Anna (200)*

Remarkable fruit for mild-winter climates in Southern California. Heavy crops of sweet, crisp, flavorful apples even in low desert. Fresh/cooked. Keeps two months in refrigerator. Self-fertile or pollinated by Dorsett Golden or Einshemer. Ripens late June.

Dorsett Golden (100-200)*

Outstanding sweet apple for warm winter areas. Firm, very flavorful, sweet like Golden Delicious. Productive throughout Southern California. Good, early season apple for Central California. Self-fertile and ripens mid-June to early July.

Fuji (350-400)*

 

 

Recent introduction from Japan that quickly became California's favorite apple. Sweet, very crisp, and flavorful, excellent keeper. Dull reddish orange skin, sometimes russetted. Self-fertile and ripens early to mid-September.

Gala (500)*

 

Wonderful dessert apple from New Zealand. Crisp, nice blend of sweetness, tartness, and has a rich flavor. The skin is reddish orange over yellow. Gala apples have an early harvest approximately 2-3 weeks before Red Delicious late August to early September and are a good pollenizer for other varieties. They are adapted to cold/warm winter climates and are self-fertile.

Gordon (400)*

 

Popular variety for Southern California. Gordon apples have a low chilling requirement. They have a good quality, red over green skin. Gordon apples are excellent for fresh use and cooking. It is self-fertile and ripens mid-August to mid-October.

Granny Smith (400)*

 

Originates from New Zealand and is a large, late, green, and all-purpose apple. It is crisp, tart and is an excellent keeper. Granny Smith apples require a long summer and thrive in hot climates. It has a prolonged bloom and is a good pollenizer for other apples. It is self-fertile and ripens August - Septmeber.

Pettingill (300)*

 

Chance seedling discovered near Long Beach, California and introduced in 1949. It is a large fruit with red over green skin and ripens late September to mid-October in coastal Southern California climates. Pettingills are crisp and juicy with a balance of sugar and acid. Pettingills are large, productive, vigours trees and are also self-fertile.

Red Fuji (350-400)*

 

Redder skinned bud sport of the Fuji. It is sweet, very crisp, flavorful and is an excellent keeper. Red Fujis ripen September - October in Central California. They are an excellent pollenizer for other apple varieties and also are self-fertile.
