Avocados

Hass

Known for its skin that turns from green to purplish black when ripe; the Hass is the leading variety of California avocados.  It is an oval-shaped fruit with a small to medium size seed, easy peeling and great taste. It has pebbly and thick, but pliable skin, pale green flesh with creamy texture. 

Ripens February to October; hardy to 30 degree.

Fuerte
This is the original high quality California Avocado.  It is pear-shaped with a medium sized seed; peels easily and has a great flavor.  It has smooth thin green skin; creamy, pale green flesh. Skin remains green, it will yield to gentle pressure when ripe.  It is a large spreading tree and hardy to 28 degrees.  Tree is an alternate bearer; bears heavy one year and light the next. Harvested late fall through spring. (B) type. Hardy to 28 degrees.
Lamb Hass
The Lamb Hass is a summer variety, developed to extend the season of the Hass. It like the Hass is oval-shaped with a small to medium seed, it is easy to peel and has the same great smooth, creamy, nutty taste as the Hass.   Ready late June through October.
Reed
Reed is another summer time variety; it is a large round fruit with a medium size seed, it is easy to peel and is undoubtedly one of if not the best tasting avocado around. The tree grows tall to about 15 feet but does not sread out to wide it gets 8 to 12 feet wide.  It has thick green skin with slight pebbling. The fruit turns a dull dull green and yeilds to gentle pressure when ripe. (A) type.
Pinkerton
Pinkerton's have small seeds, small to medium size spreading tree, heavy producer, medium fruit, Hass type. Ripens Oct to Jan. (A) type.
Bacon
Bacon is a small to medium fruit, green, very good flavor. Ripens Sept. to Jan. hardy to 24 degree. Tree is a medium size tree with upright growth. (A) type. Heavy producer.
Zutano
Zutano is a medium to large size fruit, good flavor; ripens Dec. to Jan. Tree is large and upright; hardy to 26 degree, heavy producer. (B) type.
Surprise

Wurtz  "Little Cado"

Wurtz or "Little Cado" as it is also known, has small green fruit, good flavor; ripens May to Sept. Wurtz is a very small, compact tree that reaches 8 to 10 feet tall. Hardy to 32 degrees.
Mexicola
Mexicola is a small, purple fruit with very good and nutty flavor. Ripems August to Oct. Tree is a medium spreading tree; hardy to 18 degrees. Heavy producer (A) type.
